a day away

We took advantage of the statutory holiday today and traveled down south of the border to visit the fair Seattle.  It seemed very strange to leave the country on the eve of Remembrance Day but, it was so very good to get away.  We stayed in Pioneer Square and were fortunate to have a sunny, dry day an so we walked.  Everywhere.  We had one of the best Italian dinners - he had pasta and I had risotto.  It was simple and unpretentious.  My son would have loved the restaurant.  We walked back down to the water and road the gondola/ferris wheel.  We wore our poppies proudly and they sparked many, many conversations.
Finishing up the mini vacation with a hockey game and our first Winter Ale of the season.
